Update: Refurbishing Old Picnic Table!

The second coat on the bottom and side surfaces of the picnic table is done! Will let it dry overnight and will flip it over and get the table top and tops of bench seats, which will be far easier! However, still need to stain between the table top boards with sponge brushes. That will take some patience for sure!

My new covered wagon lamp has arrived! I love it! It’s bigger than the one I had as a child, which makes it even nicer! The cover was absolutely filthy but with some Spray N Wash and a gently scrub brush, some bleach and Tide laundry detergent, it came out perfectly clean! All of the stains and dirt came right out and it looks like new! It’s beautiful! This is what the cover looked like before I washed it! I knew this when I purchased it as these are actually screen shots of the photos the seller posted of it.  I figured I would try to clean it or replace the cover. I didn’t think I would be able to get it perfectly clean so I actually bought some fabric to sew a new one for it! I guess I’ll just set it aside in case needed later on! Covered Wagon Lamp Updates are Complete!

My vintage covered wagon lamp has been completed! The cover was filthy but has been washed and looks like new! It is now spotless! The old, vintage wiring was replaced with modern wiring that is electrically safer. The new wiring accommodates a smaller night light-sized bulb instead of a nearly standard-sized light bulb, thereby reducing the risk of browning to the cover as well as reducing the fire hazard. A couple of broken chains around the wagon were repaired.  After lots of searching and shopping, two Clydesdale horses, a father, mother, daughter and son have now been added as well! I’m thrilled with the outcome! I had a covered wagon lamp growing up but it was smaller and not equipped with horses or figurines, although I had always wanted to do this! Well, here it is! I just love it! One of numerous bucket list items completed! For some reason I have always been infatuated with the pioneer days! Too Much Rain!

We are getting way too much rain! Plus we had a snow melt with all of this rain! The yard is a mess! When walking down to the chicken coop, the lawn is so soft and squishy! I had to wear boots because my feet would have gotten drenched with regular footwear just walking across the lawn! No drought here!  Areas out front:  Our walkway from driveway to front of house! Crazy!   Areas out back:  I am glad the chicken run is relatively dry!  The first year with my chickens, they were all sinking in mud here! I had to add many bags of fine gravel, followed by many bags of sand to raise the ground level a few inches inside the run! It still wasn’t quite enough so I had to add many more bags of sand a couple more times until I could get the ground was raised enough to stay puddle-free! All in all, I raised the ground here about 7 inches from what it was! It was a lot of work! I can’t recall exactly how many bags of gravel plus sand were used.
