New Quad for Our Grandson!

My grandson doesn’t know about this yet! OMG! He’s going to absolutely LOVE it! All Pappy’s idea! I can’t take any of the credit for this one! Well, actually I can! I approved this purchase! LOL!! 😜😆🤪😂❤️👍

Initially I disapproved but once I found out that you can adjust the maximum speed as low as is needed, I was fine with this. My grandson does great riding the Peg Perego John Deere tractor and Peg Perego quad at 5 mph maximum so we’ll set it for that for now. It doesn’t have reverse like the Peg Perego’s so that will be an adjustment for him. We have his head measurements so we can get a helmet for him. 

I can’t wait for his next weekend visit to GiGi and Pappy’s! We’re going to have so much fun between our old Honda quad, the Polaris Ranger, and this new little Kawasaki quad! The salesman said it did not come equipped with lights but when we got it home we found that it does! Awesome! Our grandson will love that too! In previous visits he has enjoyed going out for night rides in the Polaris because of the lighting on it! His Peg Perego’s don’t have lights, so he will be thrilled!! 👍❤️

Here it is when we first got it home! I just love my pick up truck too! Hubby bought it for me a few years ago! It has come in handy for so many projects such as lugging lumbar and supplies home from the store when I built my chicken coop, transporting chicken feed and shavings, as well as gardening plants and supplies, etc. we have had this trailer for  over ten years now; initially purchased to transport our motorcycles as needed. But it has come in handy for so many other projects, and for transporting this new little quad, as well as our Polaris, etc. And we will get many more years out of it as it is still in good shape. Hubby has done a great job maintaining it, like he does everything else! He’s awesome! 👍❤️







You can see the Honda Quad behind the new quad in these last two photos and the Peg Perego quad in the last photo. I think it’s time to get a larger shed!!!! Or an additional shed!!! I can’t believe it fits I the shed! But it’s a bit too crowded now!

And you can see the green Peg Perego John Deere tractor in this next photo, down in our basement. The pink jeep is for our granddaughter for when she’s old enough to ride. It has remote control for when she’s really little, until she’s old enough to drive it herself. It has a safety harness on the seat so she should be able to ride in it in a few months, maybe in the fall. I can’t wait! So fun!

Too Much Rain!

We are getting way too much rain! Plus we had a snow melt with all of this rain! The yard is a mess! When walking down to the chicken coop, the lawn is so soft and squishy! I had to wear boots because my feet would have gotten drenched with regular footwear just walking across the lawn! No drought here!  Areas out front:  Our walkway from driveway to front of house! Crazy!   Areas out back:  I am glad the chicken run is relatively dry!  The first year with my chickens, they were all sinking in mud here! I had to add many bags of fine gravel, followed by many bags of sand to raise the ground level a few inches inside the run! It still wasn’t quite enough so I had to add many more bags of sand a couple more times until I could get the ground was raised enough to stay puddle-free! All in all, I raised the ground here about 7 inches from what it was! It was a lot of work! I can’t recall exactly how many bags of gravel plus sand were used. Deck Work

We are in the process of replacing the deck boards and railings, as well as adding additional supports in various spots to enhance the strength of the deck over time. It was tough removing the old deck boards and getting the new ones into position. The new boards are pressure-treated and are 20 feet in length, so each board was very heavy and difficult to maneuver. Once we had the boards in place it took about 800 deck screws to secure them! That’s a lot of screwing, LOL! We still have the last two end boards to install, as well as the new railings, and then we need to work on the stairs. We are going with premade railings which will be easier to install after trimming them to fit properly. Since the trailer is tied up with the scrap boards and railings, we have to run to the dump when they’re open I was hoping to finish before the end of vacation but we decided to take a break and head up to New Hampshire to visit our son and his family!  Here is the progress so far!  We had the 20-fo

Christmas Decorating in Progress!

This year I decided to make some changes with some of my Christmas decorations! The old outdoor strings of lights needed to be replaced. One string no longer worked last year and I figured the others might not might not make it through another season. I have always enjoyed the multicolor lights but I know my husband loves blue lights so I decided to go with blue. They are very pretty but, to me, not as “Christmasy” as the multicolored lights. I could go to the store to get multicolored lights to replace them but it is just too much work at this point! We will remain decorated in blue for this Christmas anyway! LOL!!  But the highlight of my Christmas decorating this year is my new, pre-lit, artificial Christmas Tree! I had been using a pre-lit, artificial Christmas tree that I have had for at least ten years, possibly closer to 15 years! But it was only seven feet tall and looked really tiny in my post and beam living room with super high ceilings!  My new tree is twelve feet tall! And
