Bench Restoration Complete!

Image
The bench is now outside abs looks great! Love this color, too! Behr deckover premium solid stain, blue spruce!  It matches nicely with my Adirondack bench! I’ll likely do a touch up coat of stain on my Adirondack bench at some point! But for now, I have a picnic table that needs restoring first! I have a gallon of stain minus the amount used for this bench, which wasn’t much! Hoping to have enough left over to touch up the Adirondack chair! If not, I’ll get another quart for it!  Now moved to its permanent location!  Here are some before photos from when I first started this project. HUGE difference! Almost looks brand new now! LOVE it!

Bench Restoration!

This wooden bench is a few years old, and was one of the cheapest too. Made of wood and came stained. It looked really nice when new. Kind of bla but nice. But there might have been only one thin coat of stain on it to begin with. It also had some kind of shiny stuff over the stain, which quickly wore off due to sun, rain, snow, hot, cold, etc. I was waiting for that shiny layer to completely break down so I could stain in in a nice color using a good solid stain. I have used Behr Deckover premium solid stain for years on various projects, such as an Adirondack bench, my chicken buildings, etc. I just love this stuff! It holds up so well! And it looks so nice too! They have a great color selection too!  I decided to stain it with the same color as my Adirondack bench, blue spruce, so it would match nicely!  Today I applied 2 good coats done on the entire bottom, which I worked on first, flipped upside down. I did the first coat before work, then did the second coat after work. After di

Campfire Pit Completed!

Image
A couple of days ago, I finished the campfire pit! I had one layer of rocks in a circle around the perimeter previously, with plans to create a second wall next to it on the inside, then to place rocks straddling the 2 lower layers. I was finally able to complete it! Yay!  Also, for the area improvements, I cleared a bunch of brush to the fence line so we could clearly see the campfire pit from the house after we are done using it so we can make sure there are no problems after putting it out. We’ll use water to put it out when done. I have water that runs underground to the veggie garden nearby so I can run a hose down to the campfire pit to use for any emergencies, if any, and to douse the fire well to be sure it’s fully out when done using it.  The brush is all cleaned up and I raked it, too! I also created an opening in the fence so it’s easier to access the area! I still have to cut out some of the brush cuttings that are sticking up. I cleaned it all up in the access area but sti

Concrete Pad Clean Up!

Image
When we purchased our home, there was a concrete pad out back beyond the yard in the wooded area of our property. There were 8 steel posts sticking up from the pad. There were also a couple of piles of bricks: One pile of bricks that were whole and with no mortar stuck to them and another pile of bricks, mostly whole bricks with mortar all over them. Most were individual bricks but there were some that had anywhere from 2 to 5 bricks still stuck together. There were also some pieces of bricks that had been cut to a smaller size. There were lots of bricks! Of course, it’s nearly impossible to find a place to dispose of bricks, and even if there was, trying to get them all there would be a challenge. Doable but challenging.  Last weekend my Hubby cut the steel posts off to eliminate them. I posted the bricks with photos on our town website for free a few days ago and today, someone came and took them all! GONE! Yay! Last week we also disposed of other items that were there with the brick
